Children growing by connecting with the world around them
At Dandelions & Dragonflies Childcare and Early Learning Centre we encourage children to grow through connections. Connections with other people, connections with the environment and cognitive connections.
Childcare and Early Learning Centre
We have a beautiful, remodelled centre on a large site at 29 Hall Road.
We offer a picturesque rural setting with a lovely playground, giving children plenty of room to run, play and create.
Children grow fruit and vegetables, learn about sustainability and the environment and play with our animals.
We offer a warm and nurturing home away from home for children aged 12 weeks to 5 years.
We have beautiful, hand-picked, child focused, high quality resources and an amazing teaching team.
Our learning programme is based on the New Zealand National Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki.
We have a community focus and enjoy participating in community events.
Transition to School Program
As we are located on the school grounds, we have built a great relationship with the new entrance class and visit them often (twice a week). The advantage of this is that we are able to build relationships with the school children and teachers. By attending for a few hours during the week the children build an understanding about the structure and routine of the classroom. They become familiar with what happens within the school grounds, and we have found that through consistent visits our children have become confident young people who have a sense of belonging to their surroundings.
It in our vision that through fostering a sense of togetherness we build community, inspire learning, provide opportunities for social interactions and create a seamless transition between centre and school.
