Hello!
Hello, we are Catherine and Steve, the proud operators of Dandelions and Dragonflies Childcare and Learning Centre.
We live in Te Kowhai and have four beautiful children. We started our childcare journey early in 2017 when we recognised the need for a centre in Te Kowhai. It felt like a natural fit for us and lined up with our family values and community focus.
We are now really excited about continuing our journey and being able to offer childcare to the Onewhero community. As working parents we understand the difference a quality daycare can make in the lives of busy families. We are also excited about being able to offer not only a lovely indoor learning space but also a beautiful rural setting with lots of outdoor space, grass, animal friends and gardens as we believe there are so many learning opportunities outdoors.
We are committed to ensuring Dandelions and Dragonflies delivers the highest quality of education and care, as well as being a real ‘home away from home’ for your child. We believe it is a huge privilege to care for your precious little people, so thank you for considering us.

Meet The Team
Our Centre Manager
Kai Ora,
My name is Rachel Hagan and I have been teaching for the past 10 years. My husband and I live in Te Kohanga with five children. It is great to be teaching in my community as community plays a big part of our children’s learning, and we have such a rich local curriculum here and close relationships with the local school.
My practice strongly resonates with Reggio Emilia philosophy and I hold a lot of these values in my teaching. Social and emotional competence is an area that I am very interested in and bring all my learnings to the team. Nature based play is also something that I love the Tamariki to be engaging in and feel that this is an important aspect of looking after their wellness, it promotes problem solving, critical thinking and communication, all very important life skills.
I look forward to leading a team of professional Kaiako that have the children at the heart of all they do. Building strong relationships with all our centre whānau is something I value and see as crucial, as together we can get the best outcomes for all our Tamariki.
